Kate Cunningham is a multimedia communication manager with a successful track record of leading news and information organizations that create public facing content for printed, online, video and social channels. As a former journalist committed to accuracy, strong grammar and proper style, Kate is adept at independently managing people and projects.
Kate created and oversees a multimedia communication internship program she created at students at the University of New Mexico as part of a National Science Foundation project to highlight the work of women and minority STEM faculty.
Kate teaches multimedia communication at UNM, and her classes include Multimedia and Visual Communication, Social Media for Journalists, Mobile Reporting Technology, Writing and Editing for Multimedia and Video Journalism. Her passions include photography and videography.
Kate has a master’s degree in digital journalism and design and is interested in the intersection of technology and journalism as well as instructional design and e-learning development.
Prior to teaching, Kate spent more than 14 years covering city and state government as a reporter for several New Mexico newspapers. Her work took her on assignment around the state as well as to countries including Mexico and Venezuela.
